08 wrz Banc Sabadell Block
Wysłane w Architektura
The block, now used as offices by the Banc Sabadell-Atlántico, stands diagonally on a four-sided site, reviving the traditional chamfered corner of the Eixample. Structurally, the corners become four vast concrete screens that combine with four pilasters-propped up together to form a large central structural box-to provide a successful solution for the main structure of the edifice. This „structural skeleton” is reflected on the glass and aluminium curtain-wall facade in the form of vertical strips of plaques of white marble cladding, mortared in place up the entire height of the building, accentuating the slenderness of the block.
